from the candidate:
Welcome and thank you for visiting my
site. I am running for Alderman of Frederick City.
I will tell you where I stand
on the issues at this site. If I have not covered an issue you are
interested in, please contact me, and I will respond by adding it
here for all to see.
I am in favor of a Adequate
Facilities Ordnance. Common sense tells me that to grow beyond
what we are able to serve is a sure way of causing/compounding
problems. Therefore, schools, roads, parks and water must be in the
equation to allow growth.
I am in favor of a Forest
Preservation Ordnance. To save the beauty of our City and its water
supply we must have green space. I am in favor of Green building. I
find it unnecessary to level land that already has mature trees to
build and then plant immature trees that will take 10+ years to
shade you. Trees are the girders that help stop hillsides from
slumping across highways, sediment form reaching the Bay and keep
your favorite trout stream running clean.
I do not support the widening
of US 15 to six lanes. Many people are
under the misconception that it
will get them home faster. This is not true. You see the exit roads
are not and can not be made larger to handle the traffic coming of
15, therefore widening 15 will not change this and you will sit in
six lanes of traffic versus four. I also am against taking peoples
homes, and spending millions of dollars to still have 15 a failed
highway. Even the State Highway Administration in their study have
stated, 15 will still fail.
I am in favor of all
municipalities interested in coming together to
fund, build and share a
reservoir. As you know water is and will be a continuing problem if
we do not take a far reaching solution. The
Potomac, Monocacy, Wells, Lake
Liganore or Carrol Creek can not sustain our water needs for the
future.
My heart does not like killing
"Bambi". My head understands that this is a necessary part of
keeping a far more cruel death by starvation from over grazing
limited space.
I believe that a balanced
budget it a priority. That we can not spend more then we take in.
That we balance our budget on known income versus one time sales,
grants or other income that is not guarantied.
I believe that tax credits be
given on an income basis, to help seniors and lower income
individuals.
I am in favor of speed humps for
residential streets to calm traffic. Also well marked street
crossings, with all traffic red lighted so you can cross safely.
There are many places that do not have sidewalks, this is an
unacceptable safety hazard. I would seek to change this
